Many of the focus group participants were traumatized by the publicity generated around Operation Thread, or as some wags termed it, Operation Threadbare, in the summer of 2003, when Pakistani and Indian men were arrested and formally named by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as suspected terrorists on the flimsiest of grounds based on racial stereotypes.
