In his address to the Annual European Drug Conference, Vice-President Bangemann outlined the main objectives of the conference : - to provide a unique forum for dialogue between the main regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical companies worldwide; - to identify the degree of pharmaceutical harmonisation already achieved bilaterally and the outstanding differences; - to agree on an action programme to complete international harmonisation (1991 - 1996) with a view to prevent unnecessary repetition of human and animal testing and to reduce pharmaceutical research and development costs.
