Mr. Speaker, many Canadians were, I think it is fair to say, shocked and surprised to discover that Mr. Carson, who was the acting chief of staff to the Prime Minister, had been disbarred, spent time in jail, had the highest security clearance and highest access to the Prime Minister and to all the affairs of every single department of government, and that he then left the government to head an institution which miraculously receives $15 million from the Government of Canada.
Monsieur le Président, je ne crois pas exagérer quand je dis que de nombreux Canadiens ont été choqués et surpris d'apprendre que l'ancien chef de cabinet du premier ministre, M. Carson, qui avait été radié et qui avait fait de la prison, a quand même obtenu la plus haute cote de sécurité qui soit ainsi qu'un accès direct au premier ministre et aux affaires de tous les ministères avant de quitter la sphère publique pour aller diriger un institut qui, ô miracle, se voit octroyer 15 millions de dollars par le gouvernement du Canada.
