Literary translation for the last 25 years or so, since it's been supported by the Canada Council, has been seen basically as the exchange between French and English, sort of as an aspect of the bilingualism and biculturalism policy, which is great as far as it goes. But in recent years we've had more and more members who are working in other languages, and for the most part that doesn't receive any support from the Canada Council, unless it's already a Canadian book.
