In the case of any cross-border programme between Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland in support of peace and reconciliation, the ERDF should also contribute to promoting social and economic stability in the regions concerned, notably by actions to promote cohesion between communities.

(17 a) Within the thematic objective of promoting social inclusion and combating poverty and taking into account its practical importance, it is necessary to ensure that in the case of any cross-border programme between Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland in support of peace and reconciliation, the ERDF should also contribute to promote social and economic stability in the regions concerned, notably by actions to promote cohesion between communities.

The above mentioned conditions shall not apply to operations under any cross-border programme between Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland in support of peace and reconciliation as referred to in Article 6 (c).
