With the accession of Greece to the Community, this linking role has become ever more important but it causes problems for Austria. Following the brief that the Council gave to the Commission on 7 December 1987, multilateral negotiations have begun between the Community, Switzerland and Austria on the one hand and Yugoslavia on the other, and bilateral negotiations are in progress between the Community and Austria, covering all the problems relating to transport between those countries and the Community.
