I have appreciated very much the opportunity to participate in this important debate. This debate has far-reaching ramifications not only for the courts, but for the important role that parliamentarians can play in improving the reputations and perception of judges and the confidence Canadians should have in judges who serve them on a day to day basis (1240) Hon. I have not discerned the nature and scope of CIDA's financial payments for or on behalf of Canadian judges; or the range of CIDA's involvement with Canadian judges; or the range and scope of the international activities and international travels of Canadian judges; or the identity of any such Canadian judges.
