H. recalling that Mohamed Benchicou, Editor of ‘Le Matin’, was sentenced to a minimum of two years’ imprisonment on 14 June 2004 for infringement of the law concerning exchange control and capital movements, while his newspaper went into compulsory liquidation in June 2004; whereas his application for release on grounds of ill health was rejected by the Algerian authorities on 20 April 2005, despite the alarming deterioration in his condition; recalling also the sentencing and imprisonment since 28 June 2004 of Ahmed Benaoum, head of the Er-raï Elam press group,
H. rappelant que Mohamed Benchicou, directeur du journal Le Matin, a été condamné à deux ans de prison ferme le 14 juin 2004 pour infraction à la loi régissant le contrôle des changes et les mouvements de capitaux et que son journal a fait l'objet d'un liquidation judiciaire en juin 2004; considérant que sa demande de remise en liberté pour raison de santé lui a été refusée par la justice algérienne le 20 avril 2005 alors que son état s'est gravement détérioré; rappelant également la condamnation et la détention d'Ahmed Benaoum, directeur du groupe de presse Er-raï Elâm, depuis le 28 juin 2004,
