Specifically regarding water quality in the Gulf, the Cohesion Fund approved a project for the biological treatment of waste water in the tourist area of Thessaloniki, whose treated effluent is also discharged into the Gulf.

This Regulation shall not affect the continuation or modification, including the total or partial cancellation, of assistance co-financed by the Structural Funds or of a project co-financed by the Cohesion Fund approved by the Commission on the basis of Regulations (EEC) No 2052/88 , (EEC) No 4253/88 , (EC) No 1164/94 and (EC) No 1260/1999 or any other legislation which applies to that assistance on 31 December 2006, which shall consequently apply thereafter to that assistance or the projects concerned until their closure.
1. Le présent règlement n'affecte pas la poursuite ni la modification, y compris la suppression totale ou partielle, d'une intervention cofinancée par les Fonds structurels ou d'un projet cofinancé par le Fonds de cohésion, approuvé par la Commission sur la base des règlements (CEE) no 2052/88 , (CEE) no 4253/88 , (CE) no 1164/94 et (CE) no 1260/1999, ou de toute autre législation applicable à cette intervention au 31 décembre 2006, qui s'applique dès lors, à partir de cette date, à cette intervention ou à ce projet jusqu'à sa clôture.

2. While taking decision on operational programmes, the Commission shall take account of any assistance co-financed by the Structural Funds or of any project co-financed by the Cohesion Fund approved by the Council or by the Commission before the entry into force of this Regulation and having financial repercussions during the period covered by those operational programmes.

Pour statuer sur les programmes opérationnels, la Commission tient compte des interventions cofinancées par les Fonds structurels ou des projets cofinancés par le Fonds de cohésion approuvés par le Conseil ou par la Commission avant l'entrée en vigueur du présent règlement et ayant une incidence financière au cours de la période couverte par les programmes opérationnels.
