Canada and the United States have what is, I think, a unique understanding: When the decision to forcibly remove one of the other parties' nationals comes up and removal to a third country, i.e., not Canada or the United States, as the case may be, is being considered, a channel of consultation exists wherein the senior official in the foreign ministry of each country responsible for consular matters will be notified.
