[146] The Court also held that although as a general principle, a reservation to a fundamental right such as the right to life (non derogable right) would be incompatible with the object and purpose of the Convention, “the situation would be different if a reservation sought merely to restrict certain aspects of a non-derogable right without depriving the right as a whole of its basic purpose”.[147]
