CoR President Straub said: “2005 is a crucial year for the EU, and for our regions and cities especially. The structured dialogue will enable the Committee of the Regions, together with the European and national associations of regional and local authorities, to present a united front in support of the Commission’s proposals on regional policy, the financial perspectives and the re-dynamism of the Lisbon Agenda.
M. Straub, Président du Comité des régions, a quant à lui indiqué que "2005 [était] une année décisive pour l'Union européenne et particulièrement pour nos régions et nos villes. In Lithuania on 8-9 September, President Straub talked to Lithuania's President Valdas Adamkus, the Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior Evaldas Gustas, the Mayor of Vilnius Arturas Zuokas, the head of the Lithuanian delegation to the Committee of the Regions and deputy Mayor of Vilnius Gediminas Paviržis, and the Vice-President of the Lithuanian Parliament Ceslovas Jursenas.
