The competent authority shall, by way of a formal act, decide on the issuing or, after review, the withdrawal of the accreditation of the paying agency on the basis of an examination of the accreditation criteria referred to in Article 1(2) of Delegated Regulation (EU) No 907/2014 (‘the accreditation criteria’).

This should be without prejudice to the rights of the Member States to lay down criteria or conditions for prior authorisation in the case of patients seeking healthcare in their Member State of affiliation.

This may include a requirement that the insured person be assessed for the purposes of applying those conditions, criteria or formalities by a health professional or healthcare administrators providing services for the statutory social security system of the Member State of affiliation, where such an assessment would also be required for accessing health services in the Member State of affiliation .
