Mr. Speaker, on May 7, the Constitutional Court of Thailand convicted democratically elected Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of abuse of power.

F. whereas on 21 January 2014, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra declared a 60-day state of emergency in the capital, Bangkok, and the surrounding provinces, banning public gatherings of more than five people, allowing people suspected of violence to be held in custody for up to thirty days, authorising censorship of news inciting violence and granting immunity from criminal prosecution to government agencies and officials involved in the enforcement of the decree;
F. considérant que le 21 janvier 2014, la première ministre Yingluck Shinawatra a décrété l'état d'urgence pour soixante jours dans la capitale Bangkok et sa périphérie, décision qui interdit les rassemblements publics de plus de cinq personnes, autorise la mise en détention pour une période pouvant aller jusqu'à 30 jours des personnes soupçonnées de violences, autorise la censure des informations incitant à la violence et accorde aux services de l'État et fonctionnaires chargés de faire appliquer le décret l'immunité pénale;

In response to this situation and calls for her resignation, on December 9, Prime Minister Yingluck dissolved Parliament and called an election for February Anti-government protesters, however, blocked candidate registration stations in advance of the election and then blocked polling centres in several constituencies on election day.
