Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Carlos Moedas, EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation and Jean-Christophe Belliard, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service launched today the EU4Innovation initiative together with the Eastern Partnership countries, in Yerevan.
M. Johannes Hahn, commissaire européen chargé de la politique européenne de voisinage et des négociations d'élargissement, M. The new EU initiative, EU4Innovation, will combine all EU activities that support the development of Eastern Partnership countries (EaP) innovation capacities, notably those funded under the Horizon 2020 programme and the European Neighbourhood Instrument.

Welcomes the international initiatives by the President of Poland and Polish diplomats to help fight terrorism (conferences of the Presidents of the Central and Eastern European countries in November 2001 and the follow-up thereto) and the fact that Poland is taking an active part in the regional cooperation forums (Visegrad, the Council of the Baltic Sea states, and the Central European Initiative), supporting the positions adopted by the Union under the CFSP, and treating good relations with its eastern neighbours as a priority, which is finding expression in the closer political and economic cooperation with Russia and Ukraine that may prefigure the eastern dimension of the enlarged Union;
