I was a student at Garibaldi Senior Secondary, which is a high school out in the country on the east side of town, and as a high school student there I had the good fortune to have a high school art teacher by the name of Julius Borsos. He was a rather robust man of European descent who had a wonderful appreciation for the arts and did his level best to badger us into seeing if we had any talent or at least had any appreciation of the importance of arts and culture.

C'était un homme robuste d'origine européenne qui appréciait énormément les arts et qui faisait tout son possible pour découvrir nos talents éventuels et pour nous faire apprécier l'importance des arts et de la culture.

With over 1,000 events and 15,000 participating schools, the first Netd@ys, organised in 1997, created a new momentum for partnerships, namely : to disseminate European know-how on the best educational uses of the Internet, develop links between schools at European level, and exchange experiences between the various key actors involved (pupils, teachers, parents, headmasters).
Avec plus de 1.000 manifestations et 15.000 écoles participantes, les premiers Netd@ys, organisés en octobre 1997, ont créé une nouvelle dynamique de partenariats : faire connaître le savoir-faire européen sur les meilleures utilisations pédagogiques d'Internet, tisser des liens entre les écoles européennes, échanger les expériences entre les différents partenaires concernés (élèves, enseignants, parents, directeurs d'établissements).
