On 13 October 2015, the European Union opened negotiations in Tunis on a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), which will build on the existing free trade area that was established 20 years ago by the Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement and focused mainly on trade in goods.

2. 2. 2.2. The Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreements[4] On the threshold of the Ministerial Conference six Mediterranean partners have now contracted or are embarking on new association ties with the EU: - Tunisia, which signed an Agreement on 17 July; - Israel, which signed one on 20 November; - Morocco, which initialled an agreement on 15 November; - Egypt, with which negotiations started on 23 January; - Jordan, with which talks began on 18 July; - Lebanon, with which talks got under way on 9 and 10 November.
2.2.
