The committee heard that parliamentarians not only have the right to know how much federal legislation will cost the federal treasury, but we also have a right and a responsibility to know how much federal legislation will cost provincial governments.

So I have to say that yes, here again, Quebec's legislation contains many of the provisions found in the federal legislation but that, so far, the way in which the federal law has been implemented has not resulted in overlap, or very little, which will not be the case or, at least, we will be in a very good position to ask questions with respect to the legislation as the government is proposing to amend it.
Alors, oui, je suis obligée, encore en cette matière, de dire qu'il y a, en ce moment, dans la loi du Québec beaucoup de dispositions qu'on retrouve dans la loi fédérale, mais que jusqu'à maintenant, la façon d'appliquer la loi fédérale ne créait pas de chevauchements, ou si peu, ce qui ne sera pas le cas ou, au moins, nous serons extrêmement bien placés pour poser des questions avec la loi comme le gouvernement nous propose de la modifier.
