Mr. John Boland, staff representative of the FFAW/CAW, made us aware that a rationalization program had been proposed under which certain fleets would be given the opportunity to collectively buy out fishermen who wished to leave the fishery – a proposal that might require some start-up funding by government but that would not necessarily cost the taxpayer anything in the long run.
