It is a fine symbol: here we are today, the President of the Commission, the President of the European Council and the Members of this European Parliament, taking counsel together on the future of our European continent and setting out on the road together, for we know that European integration is the greatest labour of peace of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and it is one for which we want to work.
C’est un beau symbole: nous sommes ici aujourd’hui, le président de la Commission, le président du Conseil européen et les membres du Parlement européen, à réfléchir tous ensemble à l’avenir du continent européen et à nous mettre en route ensemble, parce que nous savons que l’intégration européenne est la plus grande œuvre de paix des XXe et XXIe siècles, en faveur de laquelle nous voulons travailler.
