Furthermore, regarding the other outstanding project implementation matters, the Council has asked the Commission to submit proposals to its June meeting with a view to securing the long-term public financial commitments entailed in the project and making EGNOS operational as soon as possible.

On the question of integrating EGNOS into the Galileo programme, your rapporteur would point out that investments have already been made in EGNOS by the public and private sectors through financial contributions from the EU trans-European networks budget, from the European Space Agency, member and associate states and from public and private national air traffic service providers from a number of EU Member States, which have formed the EGNOS Operation and Infrastructure Group (EOIG).
