The aid from ECHO, the European Community Humanitarian Office, was allocated under the regulation recently adopted by the Council on the free supply of agricultural products to the people of various countries in the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) and Central Asia (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan), an aid package worth ECU 204 million.1 More than a million people have been affected by the 1992-93 civil war in Tajikistan.

La guerre civile qu'a connue le Tadjikistan en 1992/93 a touché plus d'un million de personnes.
