D. whereas the scope of this resolution encompasses the countries identified by the EU Sahel Strategy, specifically Mauritania, Mali, Niger and relevant parts of Burkina Faso and Chad; whereas the broader geographic and ecological definition of the Sahel also remains crucial with regard to the region’s shared human rights challenges deriving from conflict and various human security failures, including state fragility; whereas this report will also discuss the human rights situation in the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara and the Tindouf camps;
D. considérant que le champ d'application de la présente résolution englobe les pays recensés dans la stratégie de l'Union pour la région du Sahel, en particulier la Mauritanie, le Mali, le Niger et les régions concernées du Burkina Faso et du Tchad; considérant que la définition géographique et écologique plus large du Sahel reste également primordiale pour les défis communs à toute la région en ce qui concerne les droits de l'homme, qui découlent des conflits et de divers défauts de sécurité d'origine humaine, y compris la fragilité de l'État; considérant que ce rapport traitera également de la situation des droits de l'homme dans le territoire non autonome du Sahara occidental et les camps de Tindouf;

Given Syria's fragile sectarian balance, its geopolitical position, the regime's support for terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah, and its reported stockpiles of chemical weapons, this would have significant implications for the stability of both Syria and the broader region.

Gives as examples cases where important petitions have been received but where the Committee has so far failed to obtain the agreement of the Commission to enforce properly the application of EU directives: the Nordstream Baltic Sea gas pipeline, on which Parliament adopted an important report regarding the potential impact on the environment and fragile ecosystems; the environmental impact of massive urbanisation in Spain and its impact on the environment in coastal and island regions;

Now, as I described in my written brief, nowadays peace operations run the whole gamut including 40 peacekeeping, peace enforcement, and peacebuilding missions spread out over 5 continents, including 200,000 peacekeepers, 6 international and regional organizations, and 2 coalitions, which currently play a role in these missions, billions of dollars for the reconstruction of fragile states and to provide a fresh start for the people of 23 countries located primarily in Africa, with a success rate commended by most researchers and research centres, including RAND Corporation and the Human Security Report.
