First and foremost, the danger – it is not the intention, but there is a danger – of agreeing such a framework is that it is seen as providing a framework for large-scale exploitation of our forests, leading to the opposite of the purpose of the agreement, namely, further degradation and further deforestation, thus contributing to the very destruction of the global environment we are trying to avoid.
Premièrement, le risque - ce n’est pas le but, mais le danger existe - lorsque l’on convient d’un cadre tel que celui-ci, c’est qu’il soit considéré comme un cadre pour l’exploitation à grande échelle de nos forêts, avec un effet inverse à l’objectif de l’accord, à savoir une dégradation et une déforestation accrues, ce qui contribuerait à la destruction de l’environnement international que nous nous efforçons d’éviter.
