The Schengen acquis as integrated into the framework of the European Union with the entry into force of the Amsterdam Treaty, includes the Decision (SCH/Com-ex (98) 26 def) setting up a Committee called the Standing Committee on the evaluation and implementation of Schengen which is to evaluate Member States before they apply the Schengen acquis in full and to monitor its application where it is already fully applied.
