The report notes that in 2015 a number of legislative projects that promote fundamental rights have been brought forward, including amongst others the Data Protection reform package, the Directive on special safeguards for children in criminal proceedings or the Victims' Rights Directive.

It is one of the human rights that are addressed in the universal declaration, but there is a sense on the part of a number of governments that amongst that panoply of fundamental human rights, the issue of religious freedom has not received adequate attention.
