Shares of the Gardens were sold to the workers on the project - and I might add that there were a lot of Italians who worked on the building of the Maple Leaf Gardens, and took shares for their work done, and with the help of Sir John Aird, President of the Bank of Commerce, the bank picked up the rest, and thus the Gardens were built.
