The Commission, represented by Mr. Bruce Millan, has decided that the travel to work areas of Glasgow and Greenock in Strathclyde Region should become eligible to receive ERDF aid under the RENAVAL Community programme, a special initiative intended to help the economic conversion of areas particularly hard hit by the decline of the shipbuilding industry.

On a proposal by Bruce Millan, Commissioner responsible for Regional Policy, the Commission has adopted two programmes intended to help the economic conversion of the Travel-To-Work-Areas (TTWAs) of Glasgow and Greenock in Strathclyde Region and the Intermediate Areas of Fife, which have been particularly hard-hit by the decline of the shipbuilding industry.
