– (EL) Mr President, the superficial interest of the political groups of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats, the Liberals and the Union for Europe of the Nations, to project on the pretext of freedom of expression and through a joint resolution by the European Parliament the groundless, false allegations by the owners of the Radio Caracas TV radio and television station and the reactionary political forces in Venezuela which together played a leading part in the attempted coup in 2002, in the oil embargo in 2003, in the subversive action during the referendum on the dismissal of the president and in the constant, blatant infringements of the rules of freedom of information, is a barefaced and unacceptable action against both the government and the people of Venezuela.
- (EL) Monsieur le Président, l’intérêt superficiel des groupes politiques du parti populaire européen (démocrates-chrétiens) et des démocrates européens, des libéraux et de l’Union pour l’Europe des Nations consistant à propager, sous prétexte de la liberté d’expression et par une résolution commune du Parlement européen, les allégations fausses et sans fondement des propriétaires de la chaîne de télévision et de radio Radio Caracas TV et des forces politiques réactionnaires au Venezuela, qui ont joué ensemble un rôle de premier plan dans la tentative de coup d’État de 2002, dans l’embargo sur le pétrole en 2003, dans les actions subversives organisées à l’occasion du référendum sur la destitution du président et dans les infractions constantes et flagrantes aux règles de la liberté et d’information, constitue une action éhontée et inacceptable contre le gouvernement et contre le peuple du Venezuela.

B. having regard to the non-renewal, after twenty years, of the VHF broadcasting license of the private audiovisual group Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) by the Venezuelan broadcasting regulator, justified on the grounds that this station had supported the abortive military coup of 2002 and the oil blockade of 2003, had exhibited a partial attitude in the 2004 revocation referendum, and had repeatedly been in breach of the legislation on child protection and the protection of the image of women and indigenous people on television,
B. considérant le non-renouvellement, lors de sa venue à échéance après 20 ans, de la licence de diffusion VHF du groupe audiovisuel privé Radio Caracas Télévision (RCTV) par l'organe régulateur de l'espace hertzien vénézuélien, qui a été justifié par l'appui de cette télévision à la tentative de coup d'État militaire de 2002 et au blocage pétrolier de 2003, et par son comportement partial lors du référendum révocatoire de 2004, ainsi que par des violations répétées de la législation sur la protection de l'enfance, de la protection de l'image des femmes et des indigènes à la télévision,
