In order to ensure a coherent framework for participants in Horizon 2020, Regulation (EU) No 1290/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council ('Rules for Participation') should apply to the EIT.

(20c) Given the importance of continuous innovation for the competitiveness of the Union's transport sector and the correspondingly high number of Joint Technology Initiatives in this field, the appropriations allocated to the Smart, Green and Integrated Transport Challenge under the Societal Challenges of Horizon 2020 should be subject to an in-depth budgetary assessment and potential increase in accordance with Article 26 of the Horizon 2020 Regulation.
(20 quater) Compte tenu de l’importance que revêt l’innovation en continu pour la compétitivité du secteur des transports de l’Union et du nombre proportionnellement élevé d’initiatives technologiques conjointes dans ce domaine, les crédits alloués au défi "Transports intelligents, verts et intégrés", au titre des défis de société du programme-cadre "Horizon 2020", devraient faire l’objet d’une évaluation budgétaire approfondie et être éventuellement augmentés conformément à l’article 26 du règlement portant établissement du programme-cadre "Horizon 2020".

(7) The SST services should be complementary to research activities related to the protection of space-based infrastructure carried out under the Horizon 2020 programme established by [reference to Horizon 2020 Regulation to be added once adopted], as well as to the European Space Agency's activities in this domain.
