Cooperation shall also promote the development of common policies and the harmonization of the legal framework, only and exclusively to the extent that they are covered by the Central American integration instruments and as agreed by the Parties, including sectorial policies in areas such as trade, customs, energy, transport, communications, environment and competition, as well as the coordination of macroeconomic policies in areas such as monetary policy, fiscal policy and public finance.

The two sides agreed to increase their co-operation, particularly in respect of the priority measures contained in the programme drawn up by the Central American Environment and Development Committee (CCAD).

The richness and diversity of Central American culture will be illustrated by means of various activities: - a selection of literary works will be on display at a book fair; - an exhibition of paintings and sculptures will provide an introduction to modern-day Central American art. Archaeology will be represented here too, e.g. in the form of lifesize replicas of the stele and altar from the famous Mayan ruins at Copán (Honduras); - a photography exhibition will illustrate the importance of the environment and respect for the environment in Central America; - a craft exhibition will reveal the richness of Central American craftsmanship; - the development of the cinema will be illustrated.
