I would like to give you an overview of our IRAP program, how it works, and specifically look at how IRAP has been supporting and interacting with the forest industry.

(ca) supporting capacity-building for the swift economic exploitation of new ideas stemming from research and innovation (RI). This includes support for clusters, cooperative partnerships between research, education and innovation actors including industry thematic research and innovation platforms, business RI infrastructures, promotion of RI business advisory services, also in the field of services, creative hubs, cultural and creative industries and social innovation, pilots and demonstration activities, and creating more demand for innovative products also through public procurement and project financing public tenders of innovation;

Welcomes the work done to make research in the energy field a priority of the Horizon 2020 programme, and calls on the Member States to take full advantage of this programming area; encourages the Commission and the Member States to support research on, and the development of, innovative energy technologies, and to improve existing technologies that fall outside of the framework of Horizon 2020 and European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) projects; urges the Member States to create synergies between EU and national research programmes, in recognition of the fact that research is the only way forward to reduce emissions, improve energy security, increase the competitive position of EU industry on the global market, maintain EU technology leadership, and contribute to the European agenda for growth and jobs; underscores the need to offer industry legislative certainty over a time span that extends beyond 2020;

Calls on the EU to develop an ambitious common industrial policy based on fostering research and innovation that benefits from innovative financing arrangements, such as project bonds, and supports the development of SMEs, via access to public procurement, in order to maintain its competitiveness vis-à-vis major players in industry and research;

The first is the introduction and launch of the six industrial initiatives proposed by the Commission: wind, solar, bioenergy, CO2 capture, transport and storage, electricity grids and, finally, sustainable nuclear fission. The measures also seek to support and encourage research, particularly in the field of energy efficiency, and the establishment of agreements between public authorities, industry and researchers with a view to supporting the objectives laid down in the Strategic Plan.
D'abord, la mise en place et le lancement de ces six initiatives industrielles proposées par la Commission. These proposals tally well with the new Framework programme proposal made by the Commission on 7 April, which envisages greater support for activities to cement science in society, the development of research infrastructures at European level, the creation of a European Research Council and a programme of co-operative research largely based on the industry-driven research agendas established by technology platforms.
Ces propositions s’harmonisent tout à fait avec la proposition de nouveau programme-cadre présentée par la Commission le 7 avril, qui prévoit un soutien accru aux activités visant à intégrer pleinement la science dans la société, ainsi que le développement d'infrastructures de recherche au niveau européen, la création d’un Conseil européen de la recherche et un programme de recherche coopérative largement inspiré des programmes de recherche d’origine industrielle établis par des plateformes technologiques.

NOTES the Communication from the Commission “Security Research: The Next Steps” as a valuable contribution to the debate on the future of overall European Union policy to support research for the security of European citizens and to strengthen the scientific and technological bases of relevant European industries through security research;

The principle of the programme is to grant aid with an intensity of 50% as far as basic industrial research is concerned. Bonuses of 10% for SMEs and 10% for the new Bundesländer (with a cumulated bonus of 15% maximum) The programme will apply to the following fields: - basic methods for the development of products and production processes - recycling - logistics - scientific foundation of the integration of information technology in the production process - basics for the production in a changing world Support will be given to industry and research institutes for (cooperative) RD projects involving more than one company and projects of companies and research institutes together.
Le principe du programme est de subventionner à concurrence de 50% les projets de recherche industrielle de base (avec des bonus supplémentaires de 10% pour les PME et de 10% pour les nouveaux Laender allemands, le cumul des deux ne pouvant dépasser 15%) dans les domaines suivants : - méthodes de base pour le processus de fabrication; - recyclage; - adaptation de la production à l'évolution des marchés mondiaux; - évaluation scientifique de l'intégration de technologies d'information dans les procédés de fabrication.
