The European Group for Private International Law suggested Article 4 (3) should contain a specific rule on short-term holiday tenancy, along the lines of the second subparagraph of Article 22 of the Brussels I Regulation. The wording could be the following: "However, contracts which have as their object tenancies of immovable property concluded for a temporary private use for a maximum period of six consecutive months will be governed by the laws of the country in which the lessor is domiciled, provided that the tenant is a natural person and that the landlord and the tenant are domiciled in the same country".

Is deeply concerned by the increasing presence of Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist groups, Islamic State militias and other extremist organisations and movements in Libya; believes that the region risks ending in destructive chaos along the lines of what is happening in Syria and Iraq; believes that these groups represent a major threat to the stability and security of the whole region, and also to the security of Europe; reaffirms the need to combat by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and with international law, including applicable international human rights, refugee and humanitarian law, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts;

Member States may also limit the right to pick up and set down passengers at stations within the same Member State along the route of an international passenger service where an exclusive right to convey passengers between those stations has been granted under a concession contract awarded before 4 December 2007 on the basis of a fair competitive tendering procedure and in accordance with the relevant principles of Union law.

Les États membres peuvent également limiter le droit de prendre et de déposer des voyageurs dans des gares situées dans un même État membre sur le trajet d'un service international de transport de voyageurs lorsqu'un droit exclusif de transport de voyageurs entre ces gares a été accordé au titre d'un contrat de concession attribué avant le 4 décembre 2007 selon une procédure de mise en concurrence équitable et conformément aux principes pertinents du droit de l'Union.

We naturally respect the independence of the legislative process in Afghanistan, in particular with regard to the Constitution, which does indeed make provision, under Article 131, for the possibility of legislation devoted solely to the Shiite community. Nevertheless, along with our partners we have supported an approach targeting certain articles of that law that are scarcely compatible with the Afghan Constitution or the international law that the Afghan Government has signed up to.
Nous respectons naturellement l’indépendance du processus législatif en Afghanistan, notamment par rapport à la constitution qui, précisément, prévoit la possibilité d’une législation dédiée exclusivement à la communauté chiite, selon l’article 131, mais nous avons néanmoins, avec nos partenaires, soutenu une démarche qui vise certains des articles de cette loi qui ne sont guère compatibles avec la constitution afghane ainsi que le droit international auquel le gouvernement afghan a souscrit.

Recalls that terrorism represents one of the main threats to the security of the European Union and that it must be fought with lawful and coordinated efforts by all European governments, in close collaboration with international partners and notably with the United States, along the lines of the strategy defined at United Nations (UN) level; underlines that the fight against terrorism must be fought on the basis of, and in order to protect, our common values of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedoms; furthermore stresses that all the work carried out by the Temporary Committee is intended to make a contribution towards the development of clear and focused measures in the fight against terrorism, which are commonly accepted and respect national and international law;

(5) Whereas action along these lines is justified at Community level not only because, compared with the general system for the recognition of diplomas, it provides lawyers with an easier means whereby they can integrate into the profession in a host Member State, but also because, by enabling lawyers to practise under their home-country professional titles on a permanent basis in a host Member State, it meets the needs of consumers of legal services who, owing to the increasing trade flows resulting, in particular, from the internal market, seek advice when carrying out cross-border transactions in which international law, Community law and domestic laws often overlap;
(5) considérant qu'une action en la matière se justifie au niveau communautaire non seulement parce que, par rapport au système général de reconnaissance, elle offre aux avocats une voie plus aisée leur permettant d'intégrer la profession dans un État membre d'accueil, mais aussi parce qu'elle répond, en donnant la possibilité à des avocats d'exercer à titre permanent dans un État membre d'accueil sous leur titre professionnel d'origine, aux besoins des usagers du droit, lesquels, en raison des flux d'affaires croissant résultant notamment du marché intérieur, recherchent des conseils lors de transactions transfrontalières dans lesquelles sont souvent imbriqués le droit international, le droit communautaire et les droits nationaux;
