I knew of his participation as an advisor to the Cardinal Archbishop of Cologne in the sessions of Vatican II. I was surprised to find myself as the only non-Catholic in this small, select company that included my friend and one of Canada's and the world's greatest outstanding scholars, Father Jim McConica, then President of St. Michael's College.
