I think—to come back to the theme we talked about a moment ago, punishment for the sins of others—there's very little question that the U.S. government early on, not so much because of who Omar Khadr was or what he did but because of who he was related to, saw him as a potentially rich source of intelligence and information about his father and his family and their connections and their contacts.
