This second official meeting between President Prodi and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai who visited the Commission previously in April 1998 - concluded with a strong commitment from both sides to the continued strengthening and deepening of an already healthy relationship, including support from the European Commission for Vietnam's reform process (DOI MOI) and preparations for joining the WTO (World Trade Organisation) in the context of the Country Strategy and National Indicative Programme agreed with Vietnam in 2002, which earmarks €101 million for bilateral co-operation with Vietnam over the next three years.
