Mr Barroso, the President of the Commission said, when he met President Yushchenko last week, that there was, in a democracy, no political problem for which a political solution in harmony with the law could not be found, and the frank political debate and the – so far – largely peaceful demonstrations on the streets of Kiev are evidence of the fact that the Ukrainian people understand that internal political disputes have to be settled in a responsible and democratic manner.

Barroso, le président de la Commission européenne, a déclaré lors de sa rencontre avec le président ukrainien la semaine dernière qu’il était impossible, dans une démocratie, de ne pas trouver une solution politique respectueuse de la loi à un problème politique. En outre, le débat politique franc et les manifestations globalement pacifiques - à ce jour - dans les rues de Kiev prouvent que le peuple ukrainien a compris que les querelles intestines devaient être réglées de manière responsable et démocratique.
