John Lynch-Staunton (Leader of the Opposition): Honourable senators, as my statement, I should like to read part of a statement by our former colleague the Honourable Ron Ghitter, regarding the apology that he received from Mr. Ezra Levant and Mr. Rob Anders, which states as follows:

I should like to remind you that, at the initiative of the Greek Presidency and in a letter which we sent at the end of last year to the President of the Commission, we supported precisely the need for initiatives such as these, which come within the line of thinking of the question formulated by the honourable Member.
Je voudrais également vous rappeler que, sur l’initiative de la présidence grecque, nous avions adressé à la fin de l’an dernier une lettre au président de la Commission, dans laquelle nous soulignions justement la nécessité d’initiatives comme celles-ci, qui s’inscrivent dans le droit fil du raisonnement sous-tendant la question de l’honorable député.
