Instead of displaying this adversarial attitude toward the Government of Quebec - which is precisely what Lucien Bouchard wants - and in light of the precedents that exist since the Pearson days and that were expanded on in a remarkable fashion by the Mulroney government, would it not have been wiser for the Canadian government to take its cue from such people, who had a much more sound vision of Quebec and Canada than does the current government, with this kind of sterile confrontation, which is very bad for the unity of the country?
Au lieu de nourrir une attitude de confrontation avec le gouvernement du Québec - ce qui fait le bonheur de Lucien Bouchard - et fort des précédents qui existent depuis M. Pearson et qui ont été développés de façon remarquable par le gouvernement de M. Mulroney, n'aurait-il pas été plus sage, pour le gouvernement du Canada, de s'inspirer de ces gens qui avaient une vision du Québec et du Canada autrement plus saine que cette confrontation stérile très négative pour l'unité du pays qui caractérise la vision du gouvernement du Canada actuellement?
