Even so, whereas incidents concerning the incarceration of Aung San Suu Kyi and the impossibility for the LND, the party which won the elections, to exert its political power are well known, less well known are other extremely serious facts concerning the conscription of child soldiers, the forced labour of a large part of the population and, something which the women in our Parliament, and I believe all civilised people, appreciate as particularly sensitive, the abuse inflicted upon women from ethnic minorities.
Et pourtant, même si les incidents liés à l’incarcération d’Aung San Suu Kyi et à l’impossibilité pour la LND, le parti qui a remporté les élections, d’exercer son pouvoir politique, sont largement connus, d’autres faits extrêmement graves le sont moins. Je pense à la conscription d’enfants soldats, au travail forcé d’une grande partie de la population et, ce qui devrait toucher tout particulièrement les femmes de notre Parlement et je pense toute personne civilisée, les violences infligées aux femmes appartenant à des minorités ethniques.
