Considers that the redundancies in SC Mechel Campia Turzii SA and one downstream producer (SC Mechel Reparatii Targoviste SRL) are linked to major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, referring to the fact that the sector of the manufacture of finished and semi-finished steel products, in which Mechel Campia Turzii and Mechel Reparatii Targoviste were active, has undergone serious economic disruption as a result of a rapid decline of the Union market share in the steel products sector and the market share growth of countries such as China; points out that this case demonstrates the need for a Union strategy on the steel products industry in order to maintain competiveness;

On 7 May 2014, the Commission adopted a proposal for a decision on the mobilisation of the EGF in favour of Romania to support the reintegration in the labour market of workers made redundant in SC Mechel Campia Turzii SA and one downstream producer (SC Mechel Reparatii Targoviste SRL) manufacturing finished and semi-finished steel products due to major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation.
Le 7 mai 2014, la Commission a adopté une proposition de décision relative à la mobilisation du Fonds en faveur de la Roumanie afin de soutenir la réinsertion sur le marché du travail des travailleurs licenciés chez SC Mechel Câmpia Turzii SA et chez l'un de ses producteurs en aval (SC Mechel Reparatii Targoviste SRL), qui fabriquent des produits sidérurgiques finis et semi-finis, en raison de modifications majeures de la structure du commerce mondial résultant de la mondialisation.
