The European Commission has proposed to provide Spain with €840,000 from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 300 workers made redundant in the manufacture of building materials in Comunidad Valenciana (Spain), to find new jobs.

Ceux-ci travaillaient dans le secteur de la fabrication de matériaux de construction dans la Communauté de Valence, en Espagne.

The employment situation in the region of the Comunidad Valenciana is particularly fragile, given the impact of the crisis on various other sectors, such as construction, furniture, textiles, footwear and toys, which under other circumstances could have offered alternative employment for former building material manufacturing workers.
La situation de l’emploi dans la région de la Communauté de Valence est particulièrement fragile, étant donné les répercussions de la crise sur divers autres secteurs comme la construction, l’ameublement, le textile, la chaussure et les jouets qui, en d’autres circonstances, auraient pu constituer des secteurs refuge pour la reconversion d’anciens travailleurs du secteur de la fabrication de matériaux de construction.

Spain applied for support from the EGF following the dismissal of 630 workers in 140 small and medium sized companies making building materials such as plasterboard and concrete products in the region of the Comunidad Valenciana.
