Should an EFTA State prefer not to use this method for evaluating guarantees, it will notify to the EFTA Surveillance Authority all individual cases involving investment of over ECU 1,5 million in which guarantees are given.

After the emergency aid of 138 million drachmas (1 million ECU) given on 19 September 1986 (see IP(86)441), the Commission has just decided - following an accelerated procedure - to grant a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund to a series of infrastructure projects in the region affected by the earthquake, anticipating assistance under the seventh ERDF tranche.

The aid was used for programmes and projects with priority given to rural development and economic infrastructure (90 600 000 ECU), regional programmes (16 500 000 ECU), exceptional aid (5 million ECU). Aid was also given in the form of STABEX transfers (42 million ECU), the main product concerned being groundnuts.
