The importance of this is that it is not just government, it is not just taxpayers as a whole who should bear the burden of decisions by individuals, companies, municipalities, or indeed by government organizations that impose an external burden on society, it's not just up to taxpayers as a whole to bear that burden, it's not just up to our future generations to bear that burden, but as much as possible the decision-makers who are imposing that burden should actually pay for that burden.

I ask the Prime Minister, has the government calculated how many billions of dollars it could save in government administration costs and how much individual taxpayers could save in tax preparation charges by introducing a fair and integrated system of taxation?

One of my own initiatives, to be presented in a private member's bill later this year, is to basically try to focus on how much government programs cost and taking them one step further to how much they are costing each individual taxpayer in this country.
