The extension of the above Agreement is limited to only one year because the Commission is currently negotiating with Hungary (and with Bulgaria and Romania) a new Agreement, in the form of a Protocol to the Europe Agreement, to replace the above Agreement as well as another Agreement concluded in 1993 concerning the reciprocal protection and control of wine names. The new Protocol to the Europe Agreement is intended to cover also spirituous beverages.
