Canada's economy is heavily dependent on trade as a result of a highly integrated relationship with the U.S. In 2000, 86 per cent of our trade exports were destined to the U.S. and 76 per cent of our imports came from the U.S. We are the most important trade partner of the United States as well, notwithstanding what Condoleezza Rice might say.
