That is because I thought that at the very least the people who had helped bring this legislation into being, who went out and defended the legislation, who justified it and said why they needed it, because of medical insurance, life insurance and the fact that they had brought this situation on themselves—all of those things I was prepared to listen to with the understanding that they would not then walk into the House, as they did this afternoon, and put the rest of us in a position of voting for a bill which they now have voted against, in the majority.
Si j'ai dit cela, c'est que j'étais loin d'imaginer que les gens qui ont fait pression pour que ce projet de loi voie le jour, qui l'ont ensuite défendu et justifié, qui ont dit pourquoi il s'imposait pour des raisons d'assurance médicale et d'assurance-vie, qui ont expliqué qu'ils s'étaient infligé cela à eux-mêmes pour toutes sortes de raisons que j'étais prêt à écouter avec compréhension, viendraient ensuite à la Chambre comme ils l'ont fait tout à l'heure et nous placeraient dans une position où nous voterions en faveur d'un projet de loi qu'ils ont maintenant majoritairement rejeté.
