24. Appreciates the constructive approach of the Serbian Government to relations with neighbouring countries, since this has enabled substantial progress in both regional cooperation and closer relations with the EU, and urges Serbia to continue to build on its good-neighbourly relations; calls on Serbia to promote good-neighbourly relations and the peaceful settlement of disputes, which includes promoting a climate of tolerance and condemning all forms of hate speech or war-time rhetoric and refraining from gestures such as publicly welcoming the return of individuals convicted of war crimes; notes that outstanding disputes and issues, in particular issues of border demarcation, succession, return of cultural goods and disclosure of Yugoslavian archives should be resolved in line with international law and established principles, including through implementation of legally binding agreements, inter alia the agreement on succession issues, and that bilateral disputes should be addressed in the early stages of the accession process in accordance with international law; highlights Serbia’s constructive role in the framework of the ‘Berlin Process’ and the Western Balkan Six initiative and its connectivity agenda; welcomes other initiatives focused on the future of the Western Balkans, in particular the Brdo Process, which proves to be an important framework for cooperation in both political and technical fields, and takes the view that concrete cooperation in areas of mutual interest can contribute to the stabilisation of the Western Balkans; welcomes, in this respect, the first Serbia – Bosnia and Herzegovina joint ministerial meeting, which took place on 4 November 2015 in Sarajevo; calls on Serbia to further promote the stabilisation and institutional strengthening of Bosnia and Herzegovina through its existing contacts and good-neighbourly relations with the country; reiterates its call on the Serbian authorities to initiate further measures for cross-borde ...

11. Welcomes the efforts made by President Obama and the US Administration to breath new life in the Middle East peace process; regrets the decision of the Israeli government not to extend the moratorium on settlement building and calls on the US and the EU to make all efforts so as to bring the parties back to direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians in order to reach a comprehensive agreement to the conflict that ends the occupation that began in 1967 and results in the emergence of an independent, democratic, contiguous, and viable Palestinian state living side-by-side in peace and security with Israel and its other neighbours; urges the European Union to play a more active political role, also in the framework of the Quartet, and calls, in this context, for a more active European engagement vis-à-vis Syria and Lebanon;
11. se félicite des efforts déployés par le président Obama et le gouvernement des États-Unis visant à insuffler un nouvel élan au processus de paix au Moyen-Orient; déplore la décision du gouvernement israélien de ne pas étendre le moratoire sur la construction de colonies et invite les États-Unis et l'Union européenne à tout mettre en œuvre pour ramener les parties à des pourparlers de paix directs entre Israël et les Palestiniens afin de parvenir à un accord global sur le conflit, mettant fin à l'occupation débutée en 1967 et donnant lieu à l'émergence d'un État palestinien indépendant, démocratique, d'un seul tenant et viable, existant en paix et en toute sécurité à côté d'Israël et de ses autres voisins; invite instamment l'Union européenne à jouer un rôle politique plus actif, également dans le cadre du Quatuor, et demande dans ce contexte un engagement européen plus actif vis-à-vis de la Syrie et du Liban;

45. Reiterates the importance of inclusive regional cooperation in the Western Balkans and welcomes Serbia's active participation in regional initiatives and bilateral meetings that promote good neighbourly relations, and its increasingly active role in fostering reconciliation in the region; welcomes the official visit by President Tadić to Bosnia and Herzegovina and his support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country; calls on the Serbian Government to ensure that its direct relations with the authorities of the Republika Srpska are in line with this stated support and do not undermine the integrity, sovereignty, competences and effective functioning of the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina; furthermore, urges the Serbian authorities to support reforms in BiH aimed at strengthening and streamlining the country's institutions with a view to EU-related reforms; calls on both governments to hold a special joint session in order to achieve better coordination in EU-related reforms; welcomes the initiatives and achievements with regard to improving political relations between Croatia and Serbia launched and brought about by Presidents Josipović and Tadić; reiterates that such positive bilateral relations are a good basis for resolving pending border issues and underlines that the lawsuits on genocide launched by the two countries against each other should not impede further progress in this regard; encourages the Serbian authorities to work closely with the countries of the former Yugoslavia and other neighbouring countries on the resolution of all outstanding problems of legal succession; encourages transborder cooperation with the neighbouring EU Member States Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, including within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region;

Appreciates the deepening of relations between Turkey and Iraq, including its Kurdish regional government, and points, in particular, to Turkey’s contribution to the stabilisation of Iraq; urges Turkey to articulate with the Iraqi Government, and other neighbours, measures to counter the negative impact of the hydroelectric dam project announced by the Turkish Government;

Urges the Commission, so as to ensure security of supply, to consider extending the Energy Community Treaty between the European Union and South-Eastern Europe to other third countries and to creating new regional energy markets with neighbouring countries on the model of the South East Europe Energy Community, including for example, the Euro-Mediterranean Energy Community,

Supports the Council and the Commission in their stance against the ongoing human rights and democracy violations in Burma/Myanmar and the EU's commitment to attaining its stated objectives, namely to see the establishment of a legitimate, democratically elected civilian government which respects the human rights of its people and restores normal relations with the international community; urges the Commission and the Council to strengthen the EU's common position by adopting more effective and targeted sanctions in light of the reality that the situation in Burma/Myanmar continues to deteriorate; encourages the Council and the Commission – as part of the common position on Burma/Myanmar – to engage more proactively with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and neighbouring states to urge them to use their influence responsibly so as to bring about positive change; calls for a proactive initiative to be taken by the UNHRC, which could take the form of a special session on this matter; encourages the Council and the Commission to urge China, India and other countries which continue to supply weaponry and other support to the military junta to desist from this and to join the international community in its efforts to bring about change for the better in Burma/Myanmar; notes the efforts made to date at UN Security Council level in recognition of the continuing humanitarian crisis; urges the Council and the Commission to seek a consensus with China, Russia and South Africa on a binding resolution, requiring meaningful tripartite dialogue between the State Peace and Development Council, the National League for Democracy and the ethnic nationalities, and the release of all political prisoners, including Aung San Suu Kyi;

They call for a serious attempt to be made at peace negotiations with Iraq and its neighbours; and further, in order to build a stable and sustainable society in Iraq, excluding an embargo on military goods, that all other sanctions be listed; and further, the petitioners urge Canada to vastly increase its effort in providing food, medicine and infrastructure reconstruction to Iraq and to take a lead in promoting the same through the United Nations.
Ils réclament la tenue de sérieuses négociations de paix avec l'Iraq et ses voisins. Ils demandent par ailleurs la levée de toutes les sanctions prises contre l'Iraq, à l'exception de l'embargo sur le matériel militaire, afin de permettre l'établissement d'une société stable en Iraq. Ils demandent en outre au Canada d'augmenter ses efforts pour ce qui est de l'envoi de vivres et de médicaments et de l'aide à la reconstruction de l'Iraq, et, par l'entremise des Nations Unies, d'encourager les autres pays à en faire de même.

We do have an opportunity in the FTAA, not only to work with the United States to improve our respective access to other countries, but also to work with those Third World countries to control some of the negative urges of our southern neighbour.
