The Council in particular took note with appreciation of the work undertaken by the Working Group on the drafting of an Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture, and the personal efforts made by its Chairman-Rapporteur Ms. Odio Benito, and stressed the EU determination to take, in consultation with the chairperson-rapporteur and other participants, the most efficient steps to have a strong optional protocol adopted.
