The rapporteur approves the programme's extension and the budget appropriations granted for 2005 and 2006, which amount to €236.5 million (which is the level of support that has been given hitherto and takes some account of EU enlargement), but feels that the budget for the next cultural programme covering the period 2007-2013 should be re-examined, given "the importance of culture in the European venture and the fact that culture is a vector for dialogue".
